Fox ESS inverters for Perth: KH and H3 hybrid review
Fox ESS is a growing mid-market solar inverter brand increasingly specified by Perth installers. Here's how the KH single-phase and H3 three-phase hybrids compare to Goodwe, Sungrow and Fronius for Perth homes.
Fox ESS is a mid-market inverter brand worth a genuine look for a Perth home, and its warranty is stronger than most buyers assume. The standard warranty on Fox ESS grid and hybrid inverters sold here is 10 years, not the five that older reviews still quote. The two hybrids you'll actually be offered in WA are the KH single-phase range (7 to 10.5kW) and the H3 Smart three-phase range (5 to 15kW). Both pair with Fox ESS's own high-voltage LFP battery and hit peak efficiencies just under 98%. The real question for a Perth household isn't the spec sheet. It's whether your installer has a proper Fox ESS supply and service relationship, because that decides how a warranty claim actually plays out.

Is Fox ESS a good inverter brand for Perth?
Fox ESS is a Chinese manufacturer that entered the Australian market in 2021 and has built a growing presence in the mid-market residential segment. It's less established here than Sungrow or Goodwe, but Perth installers are specifying it more often as a competitive hybrid option.
The short version: the hardware is sound, the warranty is a full 10 years, and the monitoring is capable. What Fox ESS doesn't yet have in Perth is the deep local service pool that Sungrow and Fronius enjoy. That gap is the main thing to weigh, and it's covered further down.
Which Fox ESS inverters are sold in Perth?
Two product families cover almost every Perth quote.
T-series and G-series string inverters (single and three-phase). These are Fox ESS's standard grid-connect string inverters for solar-only systems. Peak efficiency sits around 97.8%. Monitoring runs through FoxCloud over WiFi or 4G.
KH single-phase hybrid (7 to 10.5kW). This is the current single-phase hybrid for most Perth homes adding a battery. It runs a high-voltage battery bank, carries three or four MPPT inputs, and reaches a maximum efficiency of 97.80%. It includes an emergency power supply mode for backup during an outage.
H3 Smart three-phase hybrid (5 to 15kW). For three-phase homes, the H3 Smart range spans 5 to 15kW with three MPPT inputs and a maximum efficiency up to 97.90%. It uses a high-voltage battery and, like the KH, supports backup through its EPS output.
One thing to note if you're cross-shopping older listings: Fox ESS has revised its hybrid line, so some third-party pages still describe a single-phase "H-series" that no longer maps to what's stocked. For a current Perth quote, the single-phase hybrid is the KH and the three-phase hybrid is the H3 Smart.
Fox ESS hybrid specifications
Here are the two current AU hybrids side by side. Both are high-voltage battery systems: there's no 48V low-voltage option on the current Fox ESS hybrids sold here.
| Specification | KH single-phase hybrid | H3 Smart three-phase hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Power range | 7–10.5kW | 5–15kW |
| Phase | Single-phase | Three-phase |
| Max efficiency | 97.80% | Up to 97.90% |
| Battery voltage | 85–480V (high-voltage) | 100–800V (high-voltage) |
| MPPT inputs | 3–4 | 3 |
| Backup (EPS) | Yes | Yes |
| Standard warranty | 10 years | 10 years |
| Monitoring | FoxCloud | FoxCloud |
That 10-year figure is the standard inverter term across the Fox ESS grid and hybrid range in Australia. The FoxPro service option can extend it to 20 years. The one exception is the all-in-one AIO product line, which carries a shorter term, so confirm the model on your quote rather than assuming.

How does Fox ESS compare to Sungrow, Fronius and Goodwe in Perth?
The four brands below cover most Perth hybrid quotes. Inverter warranty terms in Australia are commonly around 10 years, but they vary by brand, model and registration, so confirm the exact term on your own quote rather than relying on a table.
| Brand | Hybrid family | Monitoring | Battery ecosystem | Perth market position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sungrow | SH series | iSolarCloud (strong) | SBR (DC-coupled) / third-party AC | Largest Perth install base |
| Fronius | GEN24 Plus | Solar.web (excellent) | BYD (DC-coupled) | Premium |
| Goodwe | ES / EH series | SEMS (adequate) | Pylontech AC / GoodWe Lynx | Mid-market |
| Fox ESS | KH / H3 Smart | FoxCloud (capable) | Fox ESS HV battery (DC) / third-party LFP | Growing mid-market |

What batteries work with a Fox ESS hybrid?
A Fox ESS hybrid is built to run Fox ESS's own high-voltage LFP battery, and it can pair with some third-party LFP batteries through the supported-battery list.
Fox ESS's current high-voltage battery uses LFP chemistry and stacks in modules:
- EQ4800 modules are about 4.66kWh each. You stack from 2 up to 9 modules, giving a usable range of roughly 9 to 42kWh.
- CQ7 modules are about 6.96kWh each and are Fox ESS's newest high-voltage battery series here, superseding the earlier CQ6 line (about 5.99kWh per module), stacking to a larger total than either.
That modular approach lets you size the battery to your evening load and add capacity later. If you're still deciding on size, our battery sizing guide for Perth walks through it.
WA Battery Scheme eligibility. To claim the WA rebate, your battery has to be paired with an inverter that the Synergy Supported Solutions List (SSL) approves for DER Storage, and you must enrol in an approved VPP or Battery Rewards program. The rebate is $130 per kWh, capped at $1,300. The SSL is a state-administered inverter approval list, and it changes over time, so check the current list at synergy.net.au before you commit, and confirm the inverter your Fox ESS battery pairs with is SSL-approved for DER Storage. The scheme is for Synergy customers on the SWIS network.
What is FoxCloud monitoring like?
FoxCloud is Fox ESS's monitoring platform, reached through the web dashboard or the phone app. It covers the basics well:
- Real-time generation, consumption and battery state of charge
- Historical energy-flow data
- Basic fault alerting
- Energy-cost estimates when you enter your tariff rates
It's a capable platform for day-to-day use. Third-party integrations such as Home Assistant and PVOutput are possible through the Fox ESS API, though these community integrations are less documented than the open interfaces some competitors offer. If tinkering with your own energy dashboard matters to you, that's worth checking before you buy.
Why are Perth installers starting to specify Fox ESS?
Three things are driving the uptake.
Competitive pricing. The Fox ESS hybrid can come in at a lower price than a comparable Sungrow SH or Goodwe hybrid at similar specs, which gives budget-conscious quotes some room.
Battery flexibility. Supporting both the native Fox ESS high-voltage battery and some third-party LFP options gives installers more ways to build a system around your needs.
Distributor push. Fox ESS's Australian distributor network has been expanding its Perth supply relationships, so more local installers can now stock and support it.
The brand isn't yet at the scale where Perth has a deep independent service technician pool. Warranty service mostly routes through the installer who supplied the system, and then back to the national distributor. That's fine when the relationship is solid, and slower when it isn't.
When does Fox ESS make sense for a Perth home?
A Fox ESS hybrid is worth considering when:
- Your installer has a genuine Fox ESS supply and service relationship, not a one-off buy for margin
- You're comparing hybrid options and the Fox ESS quote offers a real price advantage for your system size
- Battery storage is a near-term goal and the inverter it pairs with is SSL-approved for DER Storage at the time you buy
Lean towards Sungrow SH or Fronius GEN24 when:
- Local service depth is your priority, since both have larger Perth-based warranty service footprints
- You want the most-installed hybrid combination in Perth, which is a Sungrow SBR battery paired with an SH inverter
- The price difference between the options is modest, in which case the broader local service network can be worth the small premium
Price gaps between inverter brands move around with system size and installer, so treat any figure in a quote as specific to that quote. Our guide on how to compare solar quotes in Perth shows how to line them up fairly.
The one question to ask your installer
If your installer quotes Fox ESS, ask them when they last processed a Fox ESS warranty claim and how it went. That single answer separates an installer with a real service relationship from one quoting the brand purely on price. With a 10-year inverter warranty on the line, the strength of that relationship is what you're really buying.
