Updated for 2026
Federal and state incentives can take thousands off the cost of going solar and adding a battery. Here is what is on offer in WA, and how to claim each one.
Australia-wide incentive that reduces your upfront cost
* Based on current STC price of ~$40, Zone 3 (Perth). Values decrease each year until 2030.
STC spot price: ~$40 (as of June 2026). Prices fluctuate. Check the CER STC clearing house for current rates.
The STC multiplier decreases each year until the scheme ends in 2030. Installing sooner means more STCs and bigger savings.
Applied at point of sale: your installer handles the STC paperwork and deducts the rebate from your invoice.
Per-kWh subsidy plus interest-free loans for home battery storage
Apply via Synergy after installation (typically 2-4 weeks processing). You must have an approved battery from the Supported Solutions List installed before applying.

Self-consuming your solar energy saves you the full retail rate (~33.26¢/kWh), which is 3-16x more valuable than exporting. Focus on maximising self-consumption first.
Additional support for pensioners, seniors, and healthcare card holders
$342.85/year
Taken off the energy you use at home, electricity and gas alike
For Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, or Veterans' Affairs Gold or Pensioner Concession Card holders
Free upgrades
Free energy-efficient appliances and upgrades for eligible low-income households
LED lighting, draught sealing, hot water system upgrades, and more
Apply through Synergy with your concession card details and account number, and the credit is applied straight to your bill. If Synergy does not bill you directly, as with an embedded network or a caravan park, apply through the Energy Concession Extension Scheme instead.
Most rebates can be combined: here is what works together and what does not
The WA Battery Scheme gives eligible Synergy customers up to $1,300 off a home battery. Here's exactly who qualifies, how the application works step by step, and what to do if your claim stalls.
The STC rebate cuts your solar quote by roughly $1,700 to $4,000 or more, but most Perth households don't understand how it's calculated, why it varies between quotes, or how fast it shrinks before the scheme ends in 2030. Here's how it actually works.
